Thank you to the person who talked about the era of Virtue and Moir. That’s the thing, you know? Their legacy is up there with the best in history. And I don’t mean medals, which they have. I mean skills, I mean programs, I mean the most well-matched team this sport ever saw. I mean the circular twizzles in the Latin FD or the first seconds of that very same program, The Goose, the not touching step sequence in Farrucas, the serpertine lift in Pink Floyd, the diagonal step sequence in Funny Face, the serpentine lift in Umbrellas or the straight line in Valse Triste, what about the curve lift in Carmen? Or the twizzles with the different pacing, hell, what about the Funny Face twizzles, with them walking into them? The midline step sequence in this year’s short dance, which is the best one I have seen, the circular step sequence in Seasons or the straight line lift?
That, people, is legacy: their skating. Haters can fool themselves into thinking that this team was one note, we know better. They tackled classic ballet, progressive rock, tango, flamenco, latin, contemporary, jazz, character pieces. Look around, who else did that? Who changed steps every year? So, yeah, with me, Tessa and Scott will always get a thank you. Because not only they did all that, they did it right and they did it with beauty and skill: pointing toes, extending and matching lines, using different speeds, maintaining unison, skating very close together, using textbook partnering principles and, more importantly, DANCING. And I know, ten, twenty years from now it’s their legacy what will be remembered. People will look back, watch Carmen and give it the credit it deserves. Those are the things that make an athlete a legend. So, while you stay in your negative bubble, I’ll just remember all that and be thankful because I, as someone who loves this sport, was here to see it. (с) пост с форума
